Mission Statement
The AJCU Chief Academic Officers (CAO) Council works collaboratively to strengthen the sense of solidarity and shared identity among AJCU institutions and to provide critical support in their pursuit of the diverse and distinctive educational missions in the Jesuit tradition. The CAO Council provides a forum for communication and connectedness among AJCU members; serves on request as an advisory group to the AJCU Board of Directors; and supports transformative opportunities for leadership, learning and service. A spirit of generous cooperation and collaboration characterizes the work of the group.
This Council is comprised of chief academic officers and provosts at the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States and Belize. They meet at an AJCU institution twice per year, and regularly engage in conversations about academic affairs through an AJCU listserv.
Examples of collaboration among the AJCU Chief Academic Officers include the AJCU Consortium for Disaster Preparedness and the Statement of Principles for Jesuit Academic Programs.
