The first step to establishing a cohort on your campus is to contact the AJCU IP Certificate Coordinator: IPP@ajcunet.edu. Once a campus has indicated interest, the AJCU Coordinator will add the campus representative to an e-mail distribution list of people who receive information and updates about the program. The AJCU Coordinator will also request names and e-mail addresses of those campus contacts who will be facilitating the on-campus sessions so that they, too, can receive information and updates.

Most campuses that opt to offer the certificate use the semester prior to implementation to recruit participants and prepare their facilitators to lead the sessions. Each fall, the AJCU IP Certificate Coordinator offers a virtual orientation to the program for any interested campus representatives. We have found that it is helpful to maintain some consistency among program experiences.

Through e-mail, campus coordinators and facilitators will be given access to the materials (both the web materials and the course cartridge that can be downloaded into a campus LMS). Once registered with the AJCU IP Certificate Coordinator, campus representatives will have contact with coordinators and facilitators from other participating campuses. This connection has been particularly helpful, as facilitators have been proactively sharing what works well and how their participants are reacting to content. Contact among participating campuses has also helped establish a community of practitioners interested in furthering effective Ignatian practice.

Each module requires approximately 3-4 hours of reading and participation. Participants are assigned to keep a weekly Action Journal in which they record their reflections on how the module’s materials have heightened or impacted their understanding of their institutional role. Individual campuses may have other requirements for participation.

Campus coordinators will maintain a list of participants who have successfully completed their campus certificate requirements. The AJCU IP Certificate Coordinator will arrange for a Certificate of Completion, signed by the AJCU president, to be made available for all successful participants.

At the end of each academic year, the certificate materials will be reviewed. Changes and updates will be made based on feedback from schools that have completed the program.
