I was born on 24th June 1997 to Jose and Minerva Varela. I grew up in a small village about 20 minutes outside of the city. I am the middle child of three children; I have an older brother and a younger sister. My parents worked hard to ensure that my siblings and I had access to a quality education and life experiences. I have a very close bond with my family. Without their unconditional love and support, I would not be where I am today and would not be the woman I am today. My parents are supportive, loving, and safe. They push each of their children to further their success and work for opportunities that will allow them to grow.
After graduating high school, I attended St. John’s College Junior College and earned my Associate Degree in Psychology. My parents, being as growth oriented as they are, ensured that I would continue my studies, and three years later I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of the West Indies in Barbados. Upon returning from Barbados, it was time for me to gain some work experience and assist my parents with taking care of our household. I was fortunate enough to get my first job at my alma mater, SJC, and have been even more fortunate to have been employed by SJC for the past 3 1/2 years.
I could share my journey and experience of how my work experience has impacted me, but surely it would be too long. Needless to say, I have grown as a professional and as an individual during my time working and it has led me to find myself and discover talents and passions that were hidden within me. I am an individual dedicated to growing in all facets, including spiritually, mentally, and professionally.
