Kirsten Potter, PT, DPT, MS, is the Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) and a Professor of Physical Therapy (PT) at Rockhurst University. As Director of CETL, Kirsten conducts workshops to promote the use of evidence-based and high impact teaching practices across the institution; leads a year-long development program for new faculty; consults with faculty on matters relating to teaching and scholarship; and is building an online CETL Resource Center to provide faculty with resources to guide their work as teachers and scholars. She recently served as Chair of the university’s Evaluation of Teaching Task Force, which created a more inclusive and holistic approach for the annual assessment of teaching effectiveness. In the physical therapy program, Kirsten teaches courses in adult neurologic rehabilitation, conducts research on measures to assess movement, and serves in various capacities for the American Physical Therapy Association – Academies of Education and Neurologic Physical Therapists.
When not at work at Rockhurst, Kirsten enjoys reading, exercising, gardening, and cooking. For 38 years, she has been married to her husband Jim and they enjoy travelling, attending various cultural events, and being entertained by their goofy orange tabby kitty, Preston. Kirsten is honored to have been invited to participate in ICP and is looking forward to meeting new people and gaining insights to help in her work and personal life.
