Dr. Young’s passion for education has led her to many opportunities throughout her career. She earned her Ed.D. from the University of Cincinnati in Literacy. Prior to earning her degree, she was a teacher for elementary students. Her research interests, publications and presentations are in the areas of childhood literacy, children’s literature, and teacher development. She thrives on working with young educators, serving as their mentor and colleague.
The desire to collaborate and learn with others fuels her passion. To nurture her commitment to education, she joined Xavier University 14 years ago in the Childhood Education department. She currently is an associate professor in the Reading and TESOL programs. During her tenure at Xavier, she has been able to serve colleagues and students in various roles. After receiving tenure, she became chair of the department and then the director in the School of Education. Most recently, Dr. Young served as the Faculty Director of Assessment. In the fall, she will begin the role of Director of Faculty Programs in Mission and Identity. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with my family, traveling, and reading.
