Cynthia H. Geer, Ed.D., Dean of the College of Professional Sciences
Cindy Geer, Ed.D. was named Dean of the College of Professional Sciences in February, 2020. A professor in the School of Education for 23 years, Dr. Geer was a chair for nine years and most recently served as the associate dean in the College of Professional Sciences for external relations and finance for four years. Her commitment to developing partnerships has resulted in professional development grants with schools, Interprofessional educational experiences for faculty, community, and students, and the expansion of academic opportunities such as the CPS Graduate Research Symposium, TESOL endorsement, and professional development in science and technology education for Catholic school teachers. Dr. Geer was recently selected to be a fellow in the Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leadership 2020 Cohort co-hosted by Georgetown University and Arizona State University.
Dr. Geer earned her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and taught high school biology and chemistry in Cincinnati and Colorado before earning her master’s and doctoral degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati in 1992. She is a full professor in the School of Education in the areas of science education and instructional technology. This year Cindy will be celebrating 35 years of marriage to her husband Fritz. They have two children, a daughter Jessie who lives in Denver, Colorado and son, Hank and his wife Katie, who live in Venice Beach, California.
