Counseling and Human Services
The University of Scranton Department of Counseling and Human Services (CHS) welcomes applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position starting in August, 2024. The Counseling and Human Services (CHS) Department is home to a CSHSE accredited undergraduate program in Counseling and Human Services, three fully re/accredited (10/2031) CACREP master’s degree programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling), a master’s degree program in Applied Behavior Analysis, and two Advanced Certificates of Graduate study (Professional Counseling and Applied Behavior Analysis). The department aims to recruit applicants from diverse backgrounds with a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, service, and dedication to students’ professional development. This position is for a dynamic, enthusiastic Counselor Educator with primary responsibilities in our on-campus CACREP-accredited School Counseling Program along with interest in collaborative program leadership opportunities and innovative program development and delivery. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach courses in school counseling, CACREP common core areas, and supervision of counselors-in-training in practicum and internship. Responsibilities include a 21-credit hour workload, research and publication, all levels of service, and student recruiting/advising/mentoring. A strong interest or background in program assessment and evaluation as well as online teaching is necessary. Excellence in teaching, pursuit of an active research agenda, and professional, campus, and community service are necessary for promotion and tenure. Application review will begin on December 1, 2023, and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Education Requirements:
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program (Note: ABD with completion by June, 2024 will be considered). Possession of, or eligibility for, additional credentials (e.g., NCC, LPC, ACS).Â
Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
Leadership and work experience along with a proven track record of work with school counseling initiatives.Â
