Position Summary

The general purpose of this job is to be the law library’s electronic catalog (OPAC) database administrator.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Services 

Assist in creating, maintaining, and editing library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) web pages and electronic resources web pages located on the OPAC
Assist in management of web access to licensed databases and troubleshooting access problems 
Responsible for ordering and receiving library monograph materials and entering payment information into our OPAC
Assist department head by monitoring and tracking Library acquisitions book budget.
Resolve problems related to acquisitions and payment discrepancies
Help process invoices
Create new bibliographic and acquisition records in Sierra using OCLC

Administrative Services

Provides database / Web Administration for the integrated library system (OPAC).
Provides for the ongoing maintenance and support of the library’s integrated library system (acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, serials, web access management, the text/terminal OPAC and the web OPAC, and the proxy server service).
Perform non-bibliographic and some bibliographic database maintenance and work with the library staff in setting database parameters.
Modify system web pages and database codes as necessary or instructed.
Manage staff accounts in the Springshare LibCal program.
Create new acquisitions lists in the Springshare LibGuides program.

Information Technology

Diagnose and repair/resolve hardware and software issues with all implemented classroom technology.
General troubleshooting of classroom technology problems.
Remain on-call and available to assist faculty, staff and administrators with technology related problems  in the classrooms during working hours.
Document any changes or repairs to report back to the Director of Information Technology.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

A college degree (Equivalent combination of education and employment)

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work accurately under pressure
Must be a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

 

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.

 

Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience

 

Anticipated Schedule

Monday to Friday (8:30 Am -5:00 Pm)
