Rockhurst University is seeking an AVP for Facilities Management. The AVP For Facilities Management is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling operations and maintenance for the University’s 55-acres and 1.3 million square feet of academic, administrative, and residential living facilities. Areas of responsibility include building components, hot water heating systems, chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems, high voltage electrical systems, water and wastewater distribution and collection, utility vehicle fleet operations, sanitation collection, custodial services, and grounds maintenance. The position is also responsible for providing superior service to over 4,000 students and approximately 400 faculty and staff. Duties and Responsibilities

Participates with the President and Vice President for Finance & Administration in strategic planning activities and assists in formulating short and long-term facilities plans to support the University’s mission.
Responsible for all athletic fields/facilities.
Responsible for daily building operations and maintenance, utility vehicle fleet management, custodial and grounds, and environmental, health and safety programs.
Coordinates department facilities planning and construction responsibilities with the President and VPFA.
Responsible for developing and administering a preventive maintenance program to maintain the appearance and operation of university buildings.
Provides general oversight of custodial services for the cleanliness of buildings and grounds maintenance for the appearance and upkeep of the University landscape.
Ensures dependable operation of central plants for the comfort of employees, students and visitors.
Oversees contract service providers and building utilities.
Works with CFO/CAO to develop a master facilities plan.
Prepares energy conservation plans, implements energy and utility savings projects and establishes standards for efficient use of utilities.
Responsible for Facilities employment related tasks such as hiring, productivity, evaluation, employee relations, etc.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Facilities Operations team.
Oversee the financial management of the department including annual budgets, vendor invoicing, credit card and charge account invoicing, and contractor requests for payments; manage the funds of capital, maintenance, and residential budgets related to facilities.
Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with administrators, faculty, and student and staff organizations as well as local municipalities responsible for permitting facilities on campus.
Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures maximizing work quality, service, and efficiency.
Promote and support energy conservation, efficiency, and sustainability initiatives on campus that are aligned with both our strategic plan and the Society of Jesus’ Universal Apostolic Preferences.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Education and Job Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction, Engineering or related field or Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineering registration preferred.
A minimum of ten (10) years in roles supervising teams and budgets responsible for envisioning, maintaining all manner of facilities and systems related to those facilities. Experience with contractors in a higher education environment, or with firms that have a large central plant and multiple buildings.

Normal Working Hours and Conditions

University core business hours for this position are generally 7:30 am 4:00 pm. This position, however, will require work to be performed outside of normal business hours based on department operations, project schedules, and needs of the University.

Physical Requirements

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Position also requires require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work on a construction site. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding to gain access to all areas of a work site, walk for extended periods of time, and possess good vision and hearing abilities.
