Job Description:

The Community Engagement and Properties Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, and implementing neighborhood plans and related initiatives as well as the direct management oversight of assigned residential properties. The Coordinator will engage with students, build community, and work with members of the Le Moyne campus community, the local neighborhood, the City of Syracuse, the Town of Dewitt, and other agencies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties specific to this position:

  • Develops short and long-range strategies to enhance the quality of life in the Le Moyne neighborhood
  • Leads and facilitates neighborhood engagement community meetings
  • Creates and runs an information campaign for neighbors to understand resources available to them and connect them to resources to help them make improvements to their properties (including loan and grant programs, Home Headquarters and property redevelopment, etc)
  • Creates ways to link the neighborhood with the resources available at Le Moyne for the broader community
  • Works with the Salt Springs Neighborhood Association to help support and strengthen the neighborhood; attends all meetings
  • Builds relationships with realtors so that they can speak to the assets and strengths about buying in the neighborhood and to promote owner-occupancy in the neighborhood
  • Organizes and advertises public meetings and conducts other public outreach/participation efforts associated with planning projects
  • Plans at least one neighborhood event each year to build community
  • Administers, seeks, and implements grant programs related to neighborhood planning or improvement
  • Works with the College to explore the creation of student service opportunities in targeted neighborhoods; work with student leaders to build relationships with community partners
  • Serves as a liaison for neighborhood planning activities with community members, neighborhood groups, developers, City Boards, Town Boards, etc.
  • Manage facilities, programming, move in/out, of assigned student properties
  • Design procedures and policies for assigned properties that suit tenants’ needs
  • Serve as a liaison between residence and facilities as needed; arrange for maintenance to meet College’s standards
  • Maintain a positive, productive relationship with student tenants
  • Collaborate with Security on student issues
    Manage lease/contracts/housing agreements in a timely and reliable manner
  • Advertise and market vacant spaces to attract tenants, and assign tenants
  • Assist with collecting rents, deposits and handle operating expenses
  • Develop and manage annual budgets by forecasting requirements and analyzing trends
  • Accomplish financial goals and report periodically on financial performance
  • Assist Campus Life and Leadership as needed with various housing tasks
  • May represent the College at City, Town, or Neighborhood meetings
  • Must be available to respond to housing issues outside of regular work hours
  • Attendance at night and weekend meetings may be required
  • Provide support as needed to Assistant Directors for Leadership and Activities, and Residence Life and Housing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 + years of experience in residence management
    An understanding of property management and its financial aspects
  • knowledge of all rules and regulations surrounding property management
  • Competency in MS Office and relevant databases and software
  • Customer service focus with a goal towards maintaining fiscal responsibility
  • Personable with strong communication and follow up skills
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills
  • Occasional nights and weekends required
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are living or able to relocate to the Salt Springs neighborhood or to on campus housing.

Salary Range: $58,500-$62,000
