The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion (CSDI) Program Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports to the Director of CSDI. The Program Coordinator performs administrative support for the department in accordance with established guidelines and procedures for facilitating daily operations, event coordination, recruitment, and communications. The position also coordinates and leads the provision of direct services to historically underrepresented students and leads the grant-funded Wayfinders program. The goal of the Wayfinders Program is to prepare John Carroll University’s historically underrepresented students for entry into the workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Programmatic SupportAct as a resource person for students requiring assistance with various office departments.
Responsible for overseeing the cross-campus collaborations with departments such as Admissions (Mosaic Initiatives), Enrollment, Campus Ministry (Immersions), Office of Student Engagement (cultural student organizations), Residence Life (living and learning communities, training), Graduate School, Center for Service-Learning, and Social Action.
Act as point of contact for the signature programs of CSDI, including Multicultural Welcome Celebration, Recognition Program(s), Transgender Day of Visibility and Remembrance, National Coming Out Day.
Provide resources and class visits during the academic year to present on the topics that are relevant to the curricular work.
Provide administrative support to the department and Director in collaboration with other departments to arrange prospective student visits, graduate student programming, and alumni-related relations.
Maintain inventory of supplies, facility requests, and equipment maintenance.
Greet all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to convey office services, referrals, and general information.
Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of visitors using the services of the office.
Monitor budget transactions to ensure conformance with departmental goals and compliance with institutional policies and procedures. Records, tracks, and develops reports on departmental (budget vs. actual) expenses.
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Coordination of Wayfinders ProgramHelping in grant writing and innovative and creative thinking for programming efforts.
Develop workshops that will address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in the workplace and how to navigate them as new professionals in collaboration with Career Services.
Coordinate Micro-Internships: identify short-term, professional assignments that students can complete and work with additional grants that are incorporated micro-internships to lead as an example to other departments.
Author Annual Report: Collect, evaluate, and summarize data for the grant’s annual report.
Maintain a record of student participation in programs, events, and activities.
Oversee a student intern in the office in support of the Wayfinders Program.
Work collaboratively with campus departments on programs focusing on issues that impact the workplace about race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender identity expression, social class, ability, and culture.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of two years of experience in multicultural student services.
Possess a practical understanding of cultural, identity, and development theories.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
Skilled in data analysis.
Experience using student management and reporting systems.
Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world.


Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience working in career development or job placement.
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Tableau, Canvas, Banner, Argos Reporting.
Two or more years of demonstrated experience in student supervision and engagement.
Distinct interest in multicultural student services in higher education.
Two or more years of demonstrated event coordination.

Physical Requirements :
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
