The Tim Russert Department of Communication seeks a candidate for a full-time tenure track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level to teach in the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) track both at the undergraduate and Master’s levels.

We offer a major in Communication with concentrations in Digital Media, and Integrated Marketing Communication and a new graduate program in Digital Marketing & Communication Strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Our preferred candidate will demonstrate a blend of theory and praxis in student teaching; experience teaching at the college level is preferred. The candidate should have a record of demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and experience teaching in multiple modes, including online. Graduate courses are taught online using Canvas as the LMS. The successful candidate will need to show potential for conducting academic scholarship that will position them as a recognized expert in the field.
Our IMC concentration includes core courses in Integrated Marketing Communication, Media Writing, and a Public Relations/Advertising Seminar. Electives include Communication in Sales & Marketing, Social Media Strategy & Analytics, Branding, Sports Promotion and Fan Engagement, IMC Campaigns, Non-Profit Marketing, and Event Planning. Candidates should expect to include the three primary courses in their normal rotation, and be able to contribute within the elective course rotation as well.
The candidate will also be expected to teach within out interdisciplinary M.S. degree which features collaboration between our department and the Boler School of Business. We offer three certificates (Digital Advertising & Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing & Communication Strategy, and Digital Media Analytics), which can be combined with a capstone to complete an M.S.
In addition to the teaching duties described above, this faculty member will serve as an advisor for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) as part of JCUâ€™s Blue Streak Media, which coordinates the departmentâ€™s/campusâ€™ student media organizations. This includes overseeing an inhouse student PR firm. Additional responsibilities include student academic advising, service on department and/or university committees, research, and continuing professional development. A demonstrated track record of working with students, colleagues, and community members that contributes to diverse cultural perspectives related to integrated marketing is expected.
The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Communication, Integrated Marketing Communication, Public Relations, or related field; professional experience and strong foundation in digital analytics; experience in teaching courses in analytics, social media, digital media, PR writing and graphic design, and/or other subjects in the candidateâ€™s area of specialty; knowledge and expertise in utilizing technology in marketing technology (content management, SEO, social media management, customer relationship management, marketing analytics, and/or UX).
Applicants should have active research agendas and teaching expertise in Integrated Marketing Communication. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates who are also able to contribute to related emphasis areas in health communication, sports communication, or crisis communication. Methodological specialization is open; however, candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in research methods in addition to their areas of specialization. Candidates will be expected to contribute to graduate education. In addition to a Ph.D., the associate-level position requires at least 7 years of previous teaching experience at the college/ university level.
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrable record of culturally-responsive teaching.
