Visiting Full-Time Faculty Position in History (Modern European History)

 

Description

 

The Department of History at College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty position in modern European history for the 2024-2025 academic year to begin in August 2004. Geographic specialization is open, but Russia is excluded. We seek candidates who will contribute to our curriculum’s Global Themes

 

(see https://www.holycross.edu/academics/programs/history/requirements/global-themes), particularly applicants who could supplement our Gender in Public and Private Life offerings. Visiting full-time faculty teach three courses (usually two distinct course preps) each semester. Candidates should be able to offer at least one section of our early modern European survey (History 113, Renaissance to Napoleon) in the fall and at least one section of our late modern European survey (History 114, Napoleon to the Present) in the spring. These courses may be tailored to focus on different sets of Global Themes, depending on a candidate’s interests. The additional course(s) each semester will be electives that reflect the strengths and interests of our visiting colleague while aligning with our curricular needs and in consultation with the department chair.

 

Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester and are eligible for research and professional development support as well as taxable reimbursement of relocation costs up to $3000, according to the College’s published policies. Qualifications

 

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field. Ph.D. required by the beginning of the appointment.
