Description

The College of the Holy Cross Facilities Department is committed to delivering high-quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. To support our campus of 35 buildings and 2.5 million square feet, we are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Supervisor to join our team.

As the HVAC Supervisor you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our HVAC systems. You will lead a team of technicians and oversee all aspects of HVAC and steam plant operations to maintain a comfortable and safe working environment for our employees and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership: Lead and manage a team of HVAC technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and teamwork.
HVAC System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems, including but not limited to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and low-pressure steam plant equipment.
Oversee new installs, repairs & replacements
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC and steam plant issues, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and standards, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of equipment, parts, and supplies, and coordinate procurement as needed to support maintenance activities.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, equipment manuals, and work orders for future reference
Energy Efficiency: Implement energy-efficient practices and recommend improvements to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
Emergency Response: Act as the point of contact for HVAC and steam plant emergencies, providing timely and effective responses to minimize downtime.
Vendor Relations: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
Training and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies and provide training to the team as needed.
Building Management System: Utilize the BMS to Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC and steam plant issues, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Building Advisor: Utilize our Building Advisor system to optimize the efficiency of the campus by addressing predictive maintenance issues.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or trade school education preferred.
HVAC and Steam Plant Expertise: Demonstrates hands-on experience in HVAC system maintenance and low-pressure steam plant operations.
Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, low-pressure steam plant equipment, and associated tools.
Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members and external stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
Detail-Oriented: Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both computerized and verbal) with ability to use them to collaborate with colleagues’ efforts
Flexibility: Willingness to work outside regular hours and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Must be able to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician and/or Refrigeration Contractor License

This position is classified as non-exempt level position for purposes of the federal wage and hour law.
