Research Technician – Biology

Research Technician

 The Folker Lab in the Biology Department at Boston College has an opening for a Research Technician.  The successful candidate will spend 50% time managing the stocking of the laboratory and coordinating functions that are critical to all projects.  50% of the time will be spent engaging in original, hypothesis-driven research.  This research will utilize a combination of Drosophila genetics, microscopy, and image analysis in addition to standard molecular biology techniques.  Specific responsibilities for this position include:

Maintaining Drosophila stocks
Maintaining solutions of buffers and other lab reagents
Keeping general lab reagents stocked
Attendance at and participation in lab meetings
Completion of experiments with careful documentation
Analysis of experiments with documentation
Presentation of data at lab meetings

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

 Bachelor degree in Biology or related field
Strong communication skills

Experience with Drosophila is not required
