The Director of Formación Continua will oversee all the STM’s continuing education initiatives and
programming in Spanish, including courses (online and in person), webinars, lectures, symposia, and
meetings, among others, to serve the theological, ministerial, and spiritual needs of Spanish-speaking
Catholics in the United States and around the world. The professional serving in this capacity will also
work on the development of resources in Spanish that accompany the above initiatives. A signature
perspective of the STM continuing education programs in Spanish is to promote Ignatian spirituality and
leadership, especially in collaboration with other Jesuit institutions and centers throughout the world. It
is expected that the Director of Formación Continua will continue this tradition and, occasionally,
coordinate initiatives and develop resources to engage Spanish-speaking audiences in Latin America. 
 
The Director’s duties are to develop, market, implement, and evaluate programs; develop partnerships;
and generate revenue.  This person will work in collaboration with the Director of Continuing Education,
who oversees initiatives and programming in English, as well as other members of the Continuing
Education team. The Director of Formación Continua will manage resources allocated to advance initiatives in Spanish and will work with the university to secure other resources that will allow those programs to thrive. Depending on expertise and qualifications, the director will also teach graduate courses in her/his field of expertise as part of the STM curriculum in addition to this position.
 
The successful candidate will possess a substantive track record demonstrating success in leading,
implementing, and evaluating innovative, sustainable continuing education and/or similar programs in
topics relating to theology, ministry, faith and formation. Additional requirements include: demonstrated
experience developing, marketing, and building enrollment for new programs and proven ability to
manage staff, leading individuals to collaborate and achieve key organizational goals. Familiarity with
traditional pedagogy, as well as use of emerging educational delivery models (online, hybrid) are
essential for success. S/he is responsible for consultation about and design, implementation, and
revision of all STM Formación Continua courses. The work includes developing effective instructional
and communication strategies for the participants in the online and in person learning environments. 
 
The Director is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting the facilitators for online courses.
 
The Director must provide cost effective management of the unit and programs within budget; works to
ensure strong enrollments; develops and manages essential internal and external working relationships
and partnerships that ensure the success of the CE programs.
 
This position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Theology & Ministry.
