General Service Worker (20 hrs.  per wk./ 52 wks. per year)

 Under supervision, performs routine tasks in the preparation and serving of various foods, hot and cold. Face-to-face contact with customers requires projecting a friendly and helpful attitude toward our customers and a high awareness of customer satisfaction. Heavy lifting is necessary.

Basic Function and Responsibility:

Characteristic Duties:

Participates in the proper set-up, maintenance, and clean up of work areas.
Takes customers food orders, portions and serves food to customers with a pleasant caring manner according to established procedures.
May assist in the preparation of vegetables, desserts, salads, sandwiches and other foods.
Performs routine cleaning and sanitation functions as directed.
May assist in the set-up and serving of catered events.
Supplies and restocks food or equipment areas as necessary.
Performs routine sanitation and safety functions of work areas and equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:

 Reports to unit managers.

Supervision Exercised:

 May assist in monitoring and training of student employees.

Hiring Range: $24.30/hr to $25.57/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:

High School diploma preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
Steady employment history required.
Must be able to read and write English.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operation with diverse staff.
Have good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on an on-going basis.
