Major Duties and Responsibilities:

This will be an 8-week contract for an instructor in our Zoom-enabled synchronous classroom, teaching ~12 students from around the Global South and the US. This is a graduate-level course in the Master of Development Practice at Regis University. Instructor will have Affiliate Faculty status in Regis College.

This is not conventional distance learning but a highly interactive, live classroom.

Course Description:

DP 608 Markets & Enterprise provides students with an overview of the state of practice in two modern approaches to microeconomic development: market systems development (MSD) and social enterprise promotion. Market systems development uses the frameworks and perspectives of the multi-disciplinary realm of systems science to promote the sustainability and impact of donor-funded economic development projects. Social enterprise promotion – the startup, adaptation and scaling of socially beneficial business models – is a private-sector-driven approach to creating development impact. Students will understand and work with both MSD and social enterprise promotion and be able to use aspects of each approach in their careers.

Minimum Qualifications:

An advanced degree in a relevant discipline and field experience in a developing economy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant discipline and field experience in a developing economy.
  • Five years teaching experience.
  • Video-conference-enabled teaching experience a plus.
  • Teaching in cross-cultural settings a plus.

Work Schedule:

Instructor location is immaterial, but the course meets live, from 7AM to 8:50AM Mountain Standard Time on Tuesdays and Fridays, from Jan 16, 2024 thru Mar 10th, 2024.

This position is benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Pay Rate:
$3,300 per class
