Teaching at Its Best
The University of Detroit Mercy’s “Teaching at Its Best” program focuses on the joys of teaching. It provides an opportunity for faculty to explore themselves as teachers and what they already know and have experienced as “Teaching at Its Best.” Through it, participants ask themselves: “What can we do to rediscover afresh those moments that bring so much meaning and purpose to our vocation?”
Through conversations with a small, interdisciplinary group of faculty, participants reflect on the values, life experiences, disciplinary frameworks, and commitments they have engaged with when “teaching at their best.” Together, they ask: “How can our personal and varied understandings of teaching at its best expand or deepen the Jesuit, Mercy educational mission? How might Mercy and Jesuit pedagogies expand or deepen our understanding of our best teaching?”
