Parisian Faculty Seminar
Faculty at Gonzaga University who have participated in the Ignatian Mission Formation Program, as well as mid- and later-career faculty, are invited to join the Parisian Faculty Seminar. The Seminar includes critical reading of and conversations about formative Catholic and Jesuit higher education texts. Since Seminar discussions invite connections to one’s discipline, experience, and the proximate context at Gonzaga, some topics vary annually based on current and emerging mission-related questions.
1. Develop mission fluency through engagement with a selection of foundational texts on Catholic, Jesuit, and humanistic universities.
2. Engage reflective questions drawn from the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm to cultivate practices of interior listening.
3. Critically and constructively engage contemporary mission questions.
4. Identify connections between texts/topics in context of Gonzaga.
5. Deepen multidisciplinary community with other faculty across the University.
6. Bring one’s values (inclusive of religious identity, spirituality, and/or orienting worldview) into dialogue with the Jesuit, Catholic, humanistic tradition.
It is important to establish rapport and trust early in the cohort, since much of the value is gleaned from people sharing what they see in a wide range of departments/classes.
The Office of Mission Engagement sends out a Qualtrics survey asking for feedback on the different subjects discussed and what participants learned.
