Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network (JUHAN) Faculty/Staff Encounters
Faculty and staff at Fairfield University (and other Jesuit institutions) are invited to participate in the next faculty/staff encounter convened by the Jesuit Universities Humanitarian Action Network (JUHAN).
JUHAN is planning to hold a gathering in Rome on September 27-29, 2026, just prior to the Refugee and Migrant Education Network’s (RMEN) Biennial Conference. The two-day JUHAN Encounter will gather a small group of faculty and staff from Jesuit colleges and universities to explore and learn about refugee accompaniment and resettlement initiatives taking place in the Italian context. The group will then attend the RMEN conference as an intentional cohort and serve as a critical group of faculty/staff across the JUHAN Network who can advocate for humane and ethical border and migration policies through discussions, classroom assignments, and events.
1. Build a cohort of faculty/staff across the JUHAN Network who can lead discussions, advocate for humane and ethical border and migration policies, and integrate their learnings into courses, programs and research through a Jesuit lens.
2. As a Jesuit community, contribute to the RMEN Biennial Conference and ongoing (three-year) “Our Common Home” program through Working Group participation.
