The Cardoner Program
The Cardoner Program is a mission development program that introduces faculty and staff to the values and philosophy that frame Rockhurst University’s mission and identity. This yearlong program (October – April) aims to deepen familiarity with and animation of the University’s Catholic/Jesuit identity; its mission and core values; and the principles of Ignatian spirituality. Program participation is required of all new full-time faculty in their second year of service and is encouraged of staff members. Sessions are facilitated by the acting vice president for mission and ministry with other University colleagues, including Jesuits.
The Cardoner Program is required of all new full-time faculty. Staff members and continuing faculty are invited and encouraged to attend. The program extends over fall and spring semesters, focusing on the University’s Jesuit, Catholic Identity (including an overview of the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the history of the Jesuits, and Ignatian Spirituality); Rockhurst’s mission and core values; and Ignatian pedagogy. The program also provides the opportunity to hear from experienced Rockhurst faculty and staff about incorporating Ignatian values into their work.
