The Jesuit Distance Education Network (JesuitNET) was created in 1999 as a collaborative effort of the U.S. Jesuit colleges and universities. JesuitNET’s mission is to support AJCU schools and affiliates as they develop, share and deliver a broad range of online academic programs and services for a national and international audience.

The characteristics of Jesuit education - academic rigor, personalized instruction, service learning and ethics - form the core of the courses and programs developed and delivered through JesuitNET.

Welcome to JesuitNET

JesuitNET seeks to meet the diverse, growing needs of both traditional and non-traditional learners by integrating technology into the educational experience. Courses and programs developed through JesuitNET provide a flexible and convenient way to learn, and compliment classroom education on Jesuit campuses. JesuitNET has two operations: JesuitNET Design Services and JesuitNET Global.

JesuitNET Design Services (JDS) is the branch of the Jesuit Distance Education Network that specializes in organizational development, faculty and staff development, and online course development. JDS provides consulting services to AJCU schools and organizations outside the AJCU network who wish to build an online presence and deliver Ignatian online education as part of their academic offerings. Since 2001, Design Services has worked with the leadership and faculty at AJCU schools to implement a framework for delivering Jesuit online education. JDS has trained over 700 AJCU faculty in developing face-to-face, blended, and online education in the Jesuit tradition. JDS distinguishes itself from competitor for-profit companies who provide similar services by its pedagogical model which integrates the characteristics and themes of Jesuit education and the elements of Ignatian pedagogy.

JesuitNET Global serves as an official partner with JC:HEM for design and production of the Diploma of Liberal Studies curriculum offered to refugees and displaced people at the margins throughout the world.  With JC:HEM, JesuitNET Global also develops organizational training modules and courses to support the implementation of such programs, often in locations where people have little to no access to higher education. JesuitNET Global has collaborated with Jesuit Refugee Service, UNHCR, and the Curia in Rome, among other organizations sharing global education visions.

JesuitNET Global also partners with AJCU schools, global organizations, and corporate entities to support the delivery of high-quality, immersive Jesuit education to learners anywhere at any time. Through evaluation, analysis, consultation and support services, the JesuitNET Global division strives to provide and help create an academically, technologically, administratively and economically sound model of distance learning that is scalable and sustainable for each University partner.

Quote of the week

“As a product of Catholic schools, continuing my education at a Jesuit institution was a logical part of my journey. The emphasis on using your talents and skills to improve the lives and conditions of others, rather than focusing on personal enrichment, resonated deeply with me. I truly believe that living my life in service of others - both personally and professionally - has allowed me to thrive in unimaginable ways.”
Major General Marcia Anderson, Creighton University '79

AJCU Conferences

The 35+ Conferences sponsored by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) are affinity groups within the AJCU Network. The Conferences provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and best practices; support the professional development of their members; and present opportunities for AJCU representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges in Jesuit higher education. Most of the AJCU Conference groups meet in person at least once a year, and many of them communicate regularly through an AJCU listserv.
